RIM's BBX will be known as Blackberry 10





 The US Federal Court has blocked RIM (Research In Motion) from using the BBX trademark, favoring the existing use by BASIS International for its software. As a result, RIM just announced at BlackBerry DevCon Asia that the new name for its next phone OS is BlackBerry 10 and not BBX. Blackberry 10 will be a hybrid of  Blackberry OS 7 and QNX, running on the Blackberry Playbook, and possibly it will be more QNX and less of BB OS 7. Blackberry Playbook updated and price also slashed!



The Blackberry Playbook didn't fare well in the tablet market but that is not stopping RIM to keep its playbook updated. Some improvements in the newer version include  ( v1.0.8.4985). For more information about the update go here.
note: a major upgrade is also coming soon to the playbook which will support android applications!

Blackberry Curve 9380, Bold 9790 announced


UPDATE: Both these phones have now been listed on flipkart.com and have been put as "coming soon" products. We suspect an early January launch!

RIM has officially announced there two new 'budget' smart phones. The Curve 9380 is the  launchfirst touchscreen curve to be launched and features a 3.2 inch touch screen (torch mini?) with an 800 Mhz processor.

The Bold 9790 may be called as the small brother of the bold 9900, it features a 2.44 inch touchscreen display and has a similar keyboard as of the bold series. Both the phones run BB OS7

Opera mini 6.5 now available, download link!

Opera mini 6.5 the most popular mobile web browser has just been upgraded to version 6.5! We have already installed this browser on our good old Nokia e63! (symbian). Installation was simple, but when we tried to run it for the first time, the phone hanged! possibly because we had the previous version installed already

folks over at macberry.de have uploaded a video of android apps running on the blackberry playbook! This is actually the 2.0 beta of their about to be released update. The android apps work smoothly and they are inegrated perfectly in the OS as if it were an appworld app. Nice job RIM!

Blackberry has announced its latest Diwali offering with, giving a Blackberry Curve 8520 for free with every playbook tablet! The blackberry playbook comes in three variants 16GB,32GB and the 64GB.
And just to remind you folks there were rumors that the Blackberry Bridge software is only available for OS 6 or greater devices but now it is available for OS 5 devices also, as the curve 8520 is not OS 6 compatible!

RIM to offer paid blackberry apps for free

In an attempt to satisfy its customers RIM founder had already apologized  for the serious blackberry outage which made its customers angry, well many of them. So, to win back the support RIM has planned to give out twelve premium apps for free which amount upto 100$! [$)], RIM CEO Mike Lazaridis said that his company remains "committed to providing the high standard of reliability"
