TThe iphone 4S features a 3.5inch touchscreen while the Galaxy nexus
features a 4.65 inch, so definitely the Galaxy Nexus will be big in terms of breadth and length but in terms of the breadth it is similar to the iphone 4S. At 0.35 inches (slimmest point) it is slimmer than the iphone 4S's 0.37 inch thickness but the galaxy nexus is at 0.45 inches thick at its thickest point .
Processor/RAM
The iphone 4S has an Apple A5 dual core processor. It is also used on the ipad 2, in the ipad 2 it is clocked at 1Ghz but in the 4S it has been underclocked to 800Mhz possibly to improve battery life and keeping the processor cool at all times. Same has been donw with the RAM, ipad comes with 1GB of RAM but iphone 4S only has 512 MB of RAM
The Galaxy Nexus comes with a 1.2 Ghz dual core T.I OMAP 4460 processor (texas instruments). It comes packed ith 1GB of RAM
The galaxy nexus clearly trumps over the iphone 4S in the hardware department but only hardware will not define which phone is better or not (especially when they run completely different but similar OS's)
OS
The Galaxy Nexus runs the latest build of android aka ice cream sandwich or android 4.0, Android have unified an OS for both phones and tablets. So, single OS for both types of devices. Since Galaxy Nexus is google branded you will get updates, bug fixes as soon as possible (That's how the trend is). android ICS features many improvements such as voice commands, facial recongnition (to unlock the phone), and changes to core apps such as Gmail and the Calendar Application.
The iphone 4S features iOS 5 and has many new features such as the notification center (similar to android). Their is better email,twitter,facebook integration. Their is "imessages" a chat client very similar to BBM (Blackberry messenger) which only allows apple-apple chatting. icloud has also been introduced with iOS 5, see the video below to know more about it.

Price
Since the Galaxy nexus hasn't still debuted in India, but according to currency conversion it comes out to be around 34,000 Rs. but that's just an approximation it may be less than this or may be more (we think more)
The base model of the iphone 4S (16 GB) starts at 44,500 Rs. airtel (that's too much according to us), and the higher model goes over even the 50K mark!
